My daughter and I traveled to Glenn’s Ferry to meet my father, also know as Paca to many of his grandchildren. My niece had been at our home for the week, visiting from St. George, UT. Glenn’s Ferry was not a half way meeting point, however, my dad enjoys exploring potential investment properties and had found a small piece of land on the Snake River. He volunteered to meet me to pick up my niece, his granddaughter, and we enjoyed checking out this this potential opportunity.

Naturally, I absolutely love checking out the local food scene. No matter how small the town may be! We had delicious tacos at a food truck called. . The sweetest little aged woman was prepping and serving the food. It was scrumptious. The girls sipped on Jarritos & we talked about, maybe dreamed a bit, about what the property on the river could one day be.

When it was time to go home my girl and I headed north through down and my father & niece headed south. As we started to leave town we spotted this quaint, inviting little mercantile. Fresh produce was atop a table outside the double doors. We had to stop! My daughter forgot to bring her shoes, so she piggybacked in. No shoes are acceptable in small towns mercantiles, and I love that. The owner was kind and inviting. Organic spices & herbs, along with locally produced, high quality snacks lined the shelves. As we wandered around the old bluilding, that had been beautifully restored, I spotted an ice cream counter and bakery display. I was told that a baker would be joining the staff next week, and that the house made ice cream was all that was currently available at this counter.

Ice cream isn’t usually my first choice for dessert…but I do LOVE dessert after a delicious meal. The flavor offerings were intriguing; lemon buttermilk & chocolate were our choices. Truth be told; my daughter chose the chocolate & I the lemon buttermilk. The ice cream was perfect. The lemon buttermilk was unique and delicious. My daughter offered to share…I couldn’t resist. WOW. Real chocolate. Dark and dreamy. Little bits of chocolate laced the perfectly creamy consistency.

Is it possible for ice cream to change your life? Maybe it was the perfectly lovely memories in the making with my dearest little girl? Possibly Both.

Either way, 6 Creeks Mercantile will now be a stop on our southern travel route.

Intention: Enjoy the delicious journey, wherever the road may take you.
